Medu Vada (Urad Dal)
Medu Vada is a popular South Indian savory fritter made from urad dal. It's crispy on the outside and soft on the inside, served with chutney and sambar.
Ingredients
- 1 cup urad dal (black lentils)
- 1 small onion, finely chopped
- 1 green chili, finely chopped
- 1 teaspoon cumin seeds
- 1 tablespoon curry leaves, chopped
- 1/2 inch ginger, finely grated
- Salt to taste
- Oil for deep frying
How to Make Medu Vada
Wash and soak urad dal for 4-5 hours or overnight. Drain and grind to a smooth paste. Add onions, green chili, cumin, curry leaves, ginger, and salt. Shape into vadas and deep fry in hot oil until crispy. Serve hot with chutney and sambar.
